An adorable dog who was abandoned and left to fend for himself has become a master at getting around on all fours.
Putol was born with no legs other than her front paws, but she never let that stop her. The six-year-old dog, seen in this adorable video, learned to run incredibly fast on her two front legs with the help of her new owner, Danilo Codilego Jr.
Putol, which in the Tagalog dialect of Luzon, Philippines, literally means “chopped,” is often spotted racing and exploring the gutters and alleys of Quezon City’s Casiguran neighborhood with other dogs.
Allow us to reflect for a moment on the fact that this poor girl has been called “chopped”. A name that is both cute and mean.
Despite her dubious reputation, the pup is a major attraction in the neighborhood because of her fearlessness and love of life.
Danilo, a local truck driver, says, “We met six years ago. At the time, I was a baker’s assistant. One day, a co-worker brought me four puppies. He was trying to sell each one for 5000 pesos (£115/$151).
No one wanted Putol, the pitiful two-legged puppy; the other puppies were sold.
Nothing will irritate you as much as this remark.
They didn’t think she would live very long, Danilo said. The only person who had the strength to take care of her was me. We played because we cared about her.
Putol was the only option we had in mind.
Can’t you think of something else? Willow, Molly, and Coco? I have three ideas in mind, buddy.
For the first two years of her life, Putol was unable to walk, but she eventually mastered the skill by gradually learning to balance on her front legs. Today, she watches over the land and fiercely guards her master.
Danilo said, “Putol acts like a guard dog, barking when a stranger approaches.” She also gets jealous when I focus on another dog. She is a decent and valued member of the community, other than that.
“Everyone takes care of her, so she has no problem when I have to travel for work. She’s not picky. She likes the food we eat. However, because of her illness, she can’t have puppies.
We think she is too busy having fun to think about puppies!
